sIRB 101: An Introduction to Relying on an External IRB
Multisite research supported or funded by NIH, HHS, and other U.S. federal agencies must now be overseen by a single IRB (sIRB). This complicates things for those historically utilizing their local IRBs.
In this webinar, seasoned HRPP professionals explain the basics of working with an sIRB, providing insights into the sIRB relationship and what institutions should expect of external IRB partners.
While the presentation will use examples from Advarra to illustrate certain points, this webinar is intended as a general, educational introduction to working with an sIRB.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe typical steps in establishing a working relationship with an sIRB
- Explain common concerns associated with first-time reliance on an external IRB
- Define common training needs for local research and regulatory staff
